John Mote

The family of John Mote is deeply grateful for all the kind expressions of sympathy.  Your cards, phone calls, the lovely reception (and hard work that it entailed) and beautiful Celebration of Life Service made it so clear to us that SUMC is a very caring community.

There may have been an error in the link  to John Mote's life story.  The correct web site is www.johnmote.info.

Turkey Lurkey Coming!

The Older Adult Council will be serving their famous and delicious complete turkey luncheon on Thursday, November 17.  Come at 10:45 for a delightful program of music and singing by Larry LaVerne, then enjoy turkey, dressing, and all the trimmings plus dessert at noon.  Cost is $7.   Advance ticket not needed (pay at the door), but Shirley Van Liew will need an approximate count.  Call her at 652-9256 to RSVP if you are not called in the next week.

Our catered Holly Holiday Luncheon will be  held on December 15th.  This is a reservations only event.   Cost is $7.00.  Tickets will be sold at the Turkey Lurkey Luncheon.  Checks should be made out to SUMC.

United Methodist Women

UM Women will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 16 at 11:30AM.  All women of the church are invited.  Please bring a sack lunch; dessert and beverages will be served.

United Methodist Men Prepare for Pancake Breakfast

All men of the church and their male guests are invited to their bi-monthly  breakfast meeting on Saturday, November 19, at 8AM.  In addition to fellowship and worship, this will be a planning meeting for a pancake breakfast the men will be hosting, open to the public, in conjunction with the Stanwood Christmas Celebration, "Nostalgic Noel" on Saturday, December 3.   That day there will be holiday events all over town, culminating in the Santa Parade at 5PM in historic Stanwood.  Plan to start your day on December 3, 8AM,  right here at SUMC with a pancake breakfast to fuel your day as you partake in all the festivities offered.

Helpers Needed to Count Offering

Enjoy working with figures?  Sarah Everett, our Financial Secretary, would like to start training several people to help with the money count on Monday mornings.  Two people are always required when counting money.  There are times when only one person is available so a trained back-up who could step in as needed is  essential.  Please call the office at 629-9555 if interested.

Prayer Shawls

Thanks to several generous donations and astute shopping by Barbara Shaffer, we have some gorgeous new yarns available to be knitted or crocheted into prayer shawls for anyone in need.  Ask at the office for a look-see and directions.  Yarn and directions are also on the counter in Wesley Hall.

Martha Sanders has four new ink cartridges, HP 21-22, that she no longer needs and would like to sell; price negotiable.  Call her at 939-0691.
